Omega Ingredients creates natural vanilla alternatives

Nov 24, 2017 (MarketLine via COMTEX) --

UK-based natural flavour manufacturer Omega Ingredients has developed a vanilla flavour and an extract for the food and beverage sectors.

The company claims that its vanilla extract and flavour are 100% natural and meet all EU legislation. The new natural vanilla alternatives are said to be an economically advantageous solution to manufacturers as it offers deeper and richer in flavour with no chemical aftertaste, but rich in antioxidants.Omega noted that its products can be used as a vanilla alternative to dairy, ice-cream, beverages, confectionery and baking applications.By using real vanilla beans, Omega is reported to have developed its own natural vanilla extract and used this to create its natural vanilla flavours.According to the company, vanilla bean is now world's second most expensive spice, with prices up to nearly $500 a kilo this year from around $100 a kg in 2015.Vanilla prices are expected to increase further due to bad weather in Madagascar, where more than 80% of the world's vanilla supply is produced, Omega reported. The sharp price rise of the commodity is expected to benefit the company as food manufacturing companies across the globe look for natural vanilla alternatives. For more than five decades, Omega Ingredients has been in the natural flavours manufacturing business for the food and beverage markets.
