USDA-OK: Oklahoma Hay Report

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK Thu Nov 30, 2017 Oklahoma Dept. of Ag Market News

OKLAHOMA HAY MARKET REPORT

Alfalfa trade and movement mostly light to moderate. Demand was fairly good
for all classes of alfalfa except grinding hay. Alfalfa prices mostly 5.00-
10.00 higher. Dairy hay offerings have become scarcer over the past few
months. Demand for better quality grass and wheat hay also improved over
recent weeks. Trade and movement, however, remain light to moderate.
Oklahoma received very little rainfall through November and about 28 percent
of the state now in moderate to exceptional drought, according to the U.S
Drought Monitor. Dryland wheat pastures are in desperate need of rain.

Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state
and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage
at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call
at 1-800-580-6543 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
